Ink Dragon Press

I've got a little bit of an announcement to make. I have decided to change the name of my publishing company to Ink Dragon Press. This is something I've been planning for quite some time now. A couple of years, at least, but I didn't want to do it until after all of the Ilyon books were released so that there would be no variation in the covers. Now that Daican's Heir is available, I can finally start using the new name.

Why did I change it? I don't really have a specific answer other than I just wasn't "feeling" Living Sword Publishing anymore. I still think it's a cool publishing name, but, as with many things you do when you are young, you realize it's just not you anymore once you're fully into adulthood.

So, going forward, all of my writing projects will be published under Ink Dragon Press. Eventually, I probably will change the Ilyon Chronicles paperback covers over to reflect this change (it will only be a minor change of adding the logo to the spine in place of the LSP). But for now, they will remain the same.

Along with this change, I have also re-opened my publishing company Etsy shop. If you were part of my Nerd Cat Creations newsletter last week, you will have seen that I, unfortunately, have to shut down that shop due to Shopify increasing the price of their subscriptions. That was where I was selling autographed books and Ilyon merchandise, but it will now be available on Etsy instead. You can check it out here. (I'm still working on getting everything switched over to the shop.)

I'm really excited about the new name and the new logo and can't wait for what projects will one day be published under it.

Holiday Sales and a Pre-Order

It's that time of year again when sales abound. Today is particularly exciting because, not only do I have sales to offer, but the Daican's Heir Kindle book is up for pre-order! (Unfortunately, Amazon still doesn't allow indie authors to set paperbacks for pre-order.) This is extremely exciting for me. After all the many years I've worked on this book, I can hardly believe it is now there on Amazon. Ahhh! Now, don't panic when you see the release date set for all the way next fall. That is simply to give myself peace of mind and a ton of wiggle room. Right now, I'm very confident it will have an early 2023 release, and I'll update it as soon as I know for certain. The pre-order is also on sale for the next few days and will go up to $3.99 after Monday.

I also put every one of my other Ilyon books on sale for 99¢ each! This is the first time they have all been that low, and if you haven't started the series or haven't gotten through all the books, now is the time to grab them in preparation for the release of Daican's Heir!

Of course, I also have sales on my shop website and Etsy (this is how I actually make my living). All clothing and accessories are 15% off through the weekend and Monday. Unfortunately, this doesn't include the paperbacks of my books. Since I already offer free shipping on everything, I can't discount them or I'd lose money. *sigh* But all Ilyon Chronicles shirts and other fun merch are included in the sale! My shop has items for nerds, book lovers, writers, Christians, and kids and babies! Just about everything is on my personal shop website (plus some things not found anywhere else), but if you'd prefer to shop on Etsy, I'll include the links to my shops there as well.

If you've already read all of my books and are looking for something new to read, make sure to check out this huge book sale for clean fiction! Every single book is under $1. You can't go wrong with that. (This is also your subtle nudge to check out Elven Alliance by Tara Grayce if you haven't already. One of my favorite series EVER.)

Ahem, anyway, here's a little wrap-up of the audiobook blog tour. Thank you so much to everyone who participated in the tour and helped promote the audiobook on social media last week!

T-Shirts and Hoodies and Mugs, oh my!

I wanted to share a quick update about my different business endeavors. After all, writing, unfortunately, doesn’t pay all of my bills. As most of you know, I’ve been selling jewelry on Etsy for a number of years now. In the last year, I’ve started expanding to clothing and other accessories. As my main Etsy shop grew, I’ve started creating new, specialized shops. I’ve worked really hard in the last couple of months to streamline and expand these shops. What started out as one shop with the name JayeLKnight is now five shops! Woohoo! LOTS of work though. :P

I’ve just changed the name of that original shop to Nerd Cat Creations. Fandom inspired jewelry was always a big hit, and now I’m focusing on fandom, geekdom, and nerdom gifts with that shop and, considering my love for cats, the name seemed appropriete. :)

Besides my Etsy shops, I also have shirts available on Amazon! This includes free shipping for anyone with prime. However, if a design doesn’t sell within the first 90 days, Amazon takes it down. So if you see something you want, make sure to get it! Otherwise check my Etsy shops where they will be available all the time.

To see any of my shops, just click the shop banners below. The amazon links are just below each banner.

Black Friday Craziness

I don’t know how many of you braved the Black Friday craziness. I did. Yep, I dragged myself out of bed, stumbled through getting dressed, and braved the cold. And. It. Was. Cold. *shivers* By the time I actually got inside the first store, I didn’t care about any of the sales anymore. I just wanted to get warm! Well, I did end up getting everything I wanted, so it wasn’t for nothing. But I’m cozied up at home now, wearing the new Minion pajama pants I just bought. And I’m thinking more and more about how I like shopping online instead. So, if you’re like me, here are the Black Friday sales I have to offer you! I had them all in my email I sent out on Wednesday, but not all of you are on my emailing list and I didn’t want you to miss out!

How A Star Falls Anniversary

You may remember my review of How A Star Falls by Amber Stokes that I shared as part of the release of the novella. Well, that was a whole year ago! Now Amber is celebrating the one year anniversary!

A Note from the Author

A year ago today (November 18th), my little star story, How a Star Falls, landed on Amazon. I’m thrilled to celebrate the anniversary of its release with you by introducing a brand-new cover (where the hero, Derrick, makes an appearance) and sharing a fun giveaway with prizes from some of my favorite Etsy shops!

If you journeyed with Derrick and Brielle when their story first released, thank you for allowing them into your heart. And if this will be your first time meeting them, I hope you’ll be encouraged by their story and reminded of the hope of Psalm 138:8: “The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me.”

Blessings through life’s seasons!

~Amber

About the Book

HowaStarFalls-new

Sweet New Adult Contemporary Romance Novella

How does a star fall?
Quickly. Completely. Unexpectedly.

Derrick Knolane escapes to Trinidad Head most evenings, avoiding his apartment and planning for the day he'll break free of Humboldt County. Working in a music store might be fine for a while, but it's far from the goal he had in mind when he got his college degree. Not to mention the fact that his roommate is a jerk and his family won't stop trying to run his life.

Then Brielle falls into his world.

She claims to be a star. Not from Hollywood, but from heaven. He thinks she's crazy. Certainly delusional. Yet, he can't just leave her alone on the cliffs. So he takes her home.

And his whole world falls apart.

A heartfelt and fanciful contemporary romance novella, How a Star Falls explores the uncertain season of new adulthood and shows that sometimes the worst inconveniences make for the best miracles of all.

This novella is available in the following formats:

How-a-Star-Falls-audio-cover-new22-hour unabridged audiobook ($6.95)

Paperback ($6.99)

Kindle ebook ($.99)

An Update and a New Award!

Hey everyone! Long time, no . . . uh, post. Yeah, my life is a chaotic mix of racing to edit Samara’s Peril, keeping up with Etsy orders, and preparing for holiday sales. I seriously feel like I’m never going to catch up. Why can’t days be 48 hours instead of 24? I definitely need a few more hours to get to everything that’s pressing on me every day. Such is the life of a self-employed entrepreneur, I suppose. Despite all the chaos, I am incredibly grateful for how God has been providing and giving me success I never imagined having, in both my writing and my Etsy business. I might feel like I’m drowning in deadlines and pressing business stuff, but it’s better than wondering how you will afford even simple necessities.

Now, for the award bit. I’m a little late in sharing this news, but a couple of weeks ago, I got the news that Resistance has been honored with a B.R.A.G. Medallion!

BragMedallion

I’m so excited about how Resistance is doing. I was really quite nervous when I first published it, sending my baby out into the big, scary world. But my fears weren’t necessary, thanks to God working in the story and the wonderful readers who have become so dear to me over the last year and a half. You all are the best! :)

Resistance One Year Anniversary

AnniversaryBanner1

Today is the day! Resistance has officially been out for one full year. And what a year it has been, thanks to everyone who has read and enjoyed it! I never knew when I first hit “publish” how well it would do. I was quite scared about it, actually, because it meant so much to me. But, one year later, it has done very well, won a couple of awards, and is even in the process of becoming an audiobook! If this is just the first year, I look forward to seeing what God has in store for the next few years.

To celebrate today, I have a couple of fun things to share. First, I’ve had several readers sharing on their blogs how they discovered Ilyon. Perhaps you’re wondering how I discovered Ilyon. I’ve mentioned it in interviews I’ve done over the last year, but today I’ll share my story here.

You can thank Donita K. Paul for the existence of Ilyon. You see, it was her book DragonQuest that sparked the initial inspiration for the series. It was June 27, 2011 that I was reading a scene where it was revealed that my favorite character was half-blooded. I remember just pausing there as the creative gears in my head started turning. Now, I’ve written about half-blooded characters before (half Elves in my Makilien Trilogy), but it was never someone that was frowned upon. In DragonQuest, however, it was. So, I started thinking, what if I wrote about a character who’s mixed blood was something people looked down on. What if one side of his blood was a race people feared and thought were no better than animals? To give a better picture of what I was thinking, here are the notes I wrote down the next day—the very first notes I would write for the series.

So I was reading DragonQuest last night and it sparked a very interesting idea. I have sort of a basic plot, but mainly I have two great character ideas. I guess I'll start there.

First there's the main guy because that is where these ideas started. What I'm thinking is in this new fantasy world there is a race of people who are really evil. They can pass as humans if they want to, but have non-human attributes like pointed ears, able to see in the dark, etc. They are cunning, devious, and easily enraged. I'm thinking that even though they appear human, they almost have some animal-like tendencies. Everyone fears and hates them because they are always raiding villages and out for blood. Now, what if my main guy is half human, half one of these people? Think of the inner turmoil that would cause. He would constantly struggle with his mixed blood. Plus, I'm thinking that most people don't believe this race has souls, so my guy will always have this doubt gnawing at him, wondering if God truly can love and save him.

And that is how Jace came to be and where Ilyon started. He is at the core of it all. Every other character and plot evolved around him and his storyline. I started writing Resistance the very day I wrote down those first notes. Next month it will be four years since I first discovered Jace and Ilyon. Four of the books and a novella are written, two are published, and the last two books and (hopefully) a short story are in the process of being written. I never imagined at the beginning what a huge thing it would turn into. When I first started, the series was only supposed to have three books. But that’s how writing goes. You never know exactly what is going to happen until you reach the end.

Now,  my second fun thing to share. If you haven’t had a chance to check Ilyon Chronicles out yet, for the next week I have both Resistance and The King’s Scrolls (for Kindle) on sale for 50% off! That’s $1.99 a piece. Basically, you can get both for the price of one. :) This offer is good through May 26th.

And, just for fun, I also have a 20% off code for my Etsy store. You can go grab yourself some Ilyon inspired jewelry or choose from my other categories. I have lots of jewelry for writers and for other fandoms.

Let the Celebration Begin!

AnniversaryBanner

It seems I’ve been doing nothing but planning this for months (actually, it’s only been about a month), but the Resistance Anniversary Celebration has officially begun! I feel like this little clip of Rhino from Bolt is much too appropriate not to include.

I can’t wait to share all the fun activities that are scheduled, and I thank all who are celebrating this exciting time with me. I published several other books in my early years of writing, but none of them have been nearly as exciting as Resistance, and the fact that it has only now been out for a year means there is sure to be much more excitement to come.

Before I get to the schedule for the month, I do have an exciting announcement to share concerning Resistance. Back in March, I announced on Facebook that I was going to pursue an audiobook version of Resistance, so I uploaded it to ACX (Amazon’s audiobook creation service). I waited and WAITED to see if I’d get any auditions for it. Well, finally I did, but I just couldn’t quite find that perfect narrator. I mean, Jace is the heart of these stories. I needed to be happy with how he was portrayed, right? Originally I wanted to male narrator but, in the last week or so, with a lot of prayer, I came to realize that perhaps that was what wasn’t working for me. Perhaps trying to find a male narrator for Jace’s voice was just impossible because I’d never find anyone who fit him perfectly. That’s when I started thinking that, maybe, a female narrator would be more “neutral.” Long story short, I contacted a female narrator, got her audition, and my mom and I both really liked it. Now I can tell you today that I’ve hired an author many of you may know, Miss J. Grace Pennington, as the narrator for Resistance! I’m very excited to be working with someone I “know.” This is a completely new adventure for me, being my first audiobook. I can’t wait to share more in the coming months.

Now, on to the celebration! Below you’ll find the schedule of all the coming activities. It may shift a little as the month goes, but this will give you an idea of what’s to come. And make sure you enter the giveaway at the end! I’m giving away several different prizes!

Holiday Sales!

First of all, happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I am incredibly thankful for all my old writing friends and readers who have followed me since back in my Molly Evangeline days as well as the amazing people I’ve met and heard from since the publication of Resistance. It’s been an amazing few months being an author and seeing how the interest in Ilyon Chronicles has grown.
Now, if you’ve known me for a while, you probably know this is not my favorite time of year. I hate the cold. I’m the type of person who would have a winter home down south (or somewhere on a Caribbean beach) if I could.

Still, the holidays are exciting. And while material things are definitely not the most important things in life, all the sales going on at this time of the year are fun. Especially if you’ve been waiting and hoping to get certain items when they’re more affordable. To add to the fun holiday sales, I’m offering two of my own and have joined up with several other authors offering their books for Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales. First of all, from today until Monday, December 1st, you can get the Kindle version of Resistance for only 99 cents! This is the lowest price I’ve had on the book so far. So if you haven’t read it yet, now is the perfect time to check it out in preparation for the upcoming release of The King’s Scrolls!

I’m also offering free U.S. shipping on everything in my Etsy store from now until Christmas. I have a bunch of writer themed jewelry that made very popular gifts at this time last year. So come check it out! Just click on the banners below to see my sales and make sure to look through the list of all the other great books! And be sure to share with your friends!

Introducing New Sewing Themed Jewelry!

sewingjewelry.jpg

I’ve spent a lot of time over the year crafting fun writer and book themed jewelry, which has been very popular. Then, the other day, I was looking at supplies and came across some adorable sewing themed charms. Since I’ve been doing a lot of sewing lately, it occurred to me that sewing themed jewelry might be just as popular as writer themed jewelry. So I have now added an entirely new section to my Etsy shop with the jewelry you see above! All the pieces are customizable with your choice of bead color. Which is your favorite piece? My personal favorites are the thimble and Singer sewing machine necklaces. :) I only have one of each necklace at the moment. I’m going to see which ones turn out to be the most popular before I put in bulk orders. So if you see one you especially like, you might want to snatch it up. ;)

bronze-shiny-hr

Look!! Resistance has won a bronze medal in the Readers’ Favorite International Book Awards!!! I’m so excited right now I can barely sit still! I can hard believe it. This is the first time I’ve ever entered a book contest before, and I’m thrilled to have made it this far. I’ve been publishing my books for seven years now, but the last few months since first publishing Resistance have been the most exciting in all my years of being an author, and this is one of the biggest moments so far. Thank you so much to everyone who has followed along so closely and has encouraged my so much with your kind words. I can hardly wait to see what the future holds, especially with the publication of the next books in the series.

Now, today also marks my one year anniversary of opening my Etsy shop. I’m very pleased with how it has gone in the last year. To celebrate, I’m offering free U.S. shipping throughout September. So if you've been interested in anything in my shop, come check it out!

Valentine’s Surprises

Happy Valentine’s Day! I know it’s been a while since I updated this blog. I have WAY too much going on lately. But I do have a couple little Valentine’s surprises to share. One thing, and this is pretty big for fans of my Makilien Trilogy (which I published under my original pen name, Molly Evangeline). Today I published a cute romantic short story that takes place several years after the trilogy and follows one of my favorite of the trilogy’s characters. It’s the perfect Valentine’s Day read. You can get the eBook copy for 99 cents. I have the cover and short blurb about the story below.

Today I’m also offering a code for free shipping on my Etsy shop from now through Sunday. Just use the coupon code FREESHIP on any order of $10.00 or more.

Announcing Jaye L. Knight Etsy Shop

The time has finally come to announce the opening of my new Etsy shop! I have always been interested in making jewelry, but I never pursued it until I recently had the idea to make and sell jewelry inspired by my books. So, for the last couple of months, I've been gathering supplies and creating designs to capture the essence of different characters or books. You can see a few of these designs below. Or click here to visit my shop and see them all.

I've only just begun in this new endeavor, and hope to add new designs regularly. Especially if I can get a few sales to cover the cost of more supplies. I also have plenty more ideas for jewelry and accessories inspired by Ilyon Chronicles that I look forward to making once Resistance is published. Right now, I've got pieces inspired by both my Pirates & Faith series and Makilien.

Have fun exploring my shop! And if you know anyone who loves jewelry, I'd love it if you send them my way. I hope my designs will appeal to a wide variety of people, not only fans of my books.
